The Gleaners and I

The Gleaners and I is a project in rural Sardinia that aims at learning from ritual life as a way to re-interpret our relationships to each other and to the natural world. The project connects daily maintenance, as a modern ritual, and commoning, given that both could be antidotes to our consumerist, alienated way of living, due to a constant iteration of the same. Hoping for a connection and equalisation of people, nature and the objects and buildings around us. Through farming, manufacture and self-building the group will learn every year how to get closer to their goal, where daily efforts and maintenance are required and conflicts will have to be solved. It is in this constant negotiation and effort that the project can flourish or fail to become a place where work is not sold anymore. A place where function and symbol are combined.
